Youth and Adult confirmation:
Confirmation Classes are being held NOW each sunday at 12:30 until mid-June. All are welcome! The Christian Education Committee operates under the umbrella of Session. At present, the committee consists of Tanya Sibbick, Angela Palmer and Mary Martin. CE at Hillcrest includes Sunday School, adult study, youth and adult confirmation. Our Sunday School program is under the capable leadership of Tanya Sibbick and the mothers of children enrolled. Currently there are 12 -14 children from preschool to senior high. At Hillcrest we use a United Church program called The Whole People of God. This program is very adaptable to all ages. The program follows the lectionary and reflects the Sunday worship focus. Children are an integral part of the church family! Children see clearly that "We are the church together". ADULT STUDY: For seven weeks during atumn 2023 Timothy Wisnicki lead an insightful study of the Book of Psalms attended by eight enthusiasts. Previously Reverend Sheila Mallory had provided four-week Lenten and Advent studies for a number of years at Hillcrest. These were discontinued with the onset of the Covid pandemic. However, Rev. Sheila has recently published a book of twelve studies and accompanying sermons, gleaned from her many years as worship leader. The UCW organized a book launch and will gratefully make use of the book's material for future Sunday worship. In 2020 Rev. Bonnie and Sister Dunn from St. Mary 's Roman Catholic Church jointly conducted an ecumenical Lenten Reflection leading up to Easter. |
